Rock God #2: Jimmy Page

Alright. Jimmy Page. In case any of you don't know, he's the amazing legendary guitarist from Led Zeppelin. My personal favorite is his smashing performance in Black Dog, but his solo in Stairway to Heaven is what made him the unforgettable monster of guitar he is known as now. Now that I have all the good out of the way, I would like to tell you about a little arguement I had with a friend a few weeks ago. My last post was about big boss Eddie Van Halen, and I said that that post would be connected to this one. Well apparently my friend (he will remain unnamed for his own sake, because only someone looking for death would blaspheme like this) thinks that Jimmy Page is undoubtedly a better guitarist that Eddie! Now I'm not saying Jimmy isn't a good guitarist; he's a legend and rightfully so. But when you compare him to what I consider the second or third best guitarist of all time (you'll see my other favorites later), you have crossed a line few are stupid and brave enough to cross. While Page has a few memorable solos under his belt, nearly EVERY song Van Halen played had an amazing solo. And if you add in his full on solos like Spanish Fly and Eruption, there's really not much of a contest. Stairway to Heaven vs. Eruption. You decide.
